SMP Aftercare Instructions:
-
Avoid direct intense sunlight for 28 days. Light morning sun is ok but limit to 20 minutes max per day.
-
Avoid any activities that can cause excessive sweating for the first 4 days and try to limit the use of hats within reason for the first 48hrs after your procedure. You need to let’s the skin breathe as much as possible.
-
Long-term maintenance of your SMP. We ask that you avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, this is because of the high chlorine level that could possibly affect the color, so just up to 30 days. After that, you’re totally fine. Keep moisturizing regularly. Most importantly, use a high-factor sunscreen, factor 50 preferably. That’ll stop any excessive fading that may result from direct sunlight onto your scalp.
Day 1-4 After your treatment session Avoid:
-
Redness and irritation are normal for 1 to 3 days.
-
A tiny wound is created in the skin when each microdot of pigment is applied. A scab heals over the wound, and eventually falls away. The scabbing process typically is 5 to 7 days, but for some it can last up to 14 days.
-
Do Not peel or pick at scabs. Let it fall off by itself. Do Not wet the scab to help it come off. Picking and pulling off skin that is not ready to be removed or come off will cause pigment loss and can pull out deeper tissue.
-
Avoid showering, or applying hair product to scalp.
-
Absolutely NO dry shampoo.
-
Carrying out any activities that may cause excessive sweating (5-7 days)
-
Using shampoo.
-
Direct sunlight (Sun exposure is ok, long periods of exposure is not)
-
Swimming, sauna, or the steam room (14 days)
NOTE: If hair needs to be styled (ie: work/event) wet a comb before brushing, do not wet the scalp
Day 5-6:
-
Wash your head gently with cold water and gentle soap (Paraben and sulfate free)
-
Resume using daily product as needed
NOTE: Wait 2 full weeks before having hair dyed.
Day 7-9:
-
There still may be scabs on your scalp. Apply moisturizer 2+ daily to prevent dryness and flaky skin. If you have oily skin then skip this step.
-
You can sweat lightly. No gym, No weight lifting, No cardio, No running.
-
Do Not shave the head.
Day 10+:
Yes, you can now shave your head. Be careful of any scabs that might still be on your scalp. Only use an electric razor. You should wait 30 days before using a razor blade.

-

-
